Guide Recruitment Event at the O2 Centre NW3 THIS SUNDAY!

6 Dec

So, firstly I would like to thank you for all your support in getting the word out about this. I only started my campaign on Wednesday night and the response has been overwhelming!

Yesterday was a very positive and productive day. We have great news!! I have managed to secure a spot to hold a recruitment drive at the O2 Centre NW3 on Finchley Road. We will be there, this Sunday 11th December from 11am-5pm but this is not the end of my campaign, as we still need girls to enrol before Christmas to avoid closing, so please make sure you send any girls you know between the ages of 10-14 down to talk to us!!

Here are the details of the event:

WHAT?       Guide recruitment drive with edible campfire making.

WHO?         Guide leaders and Guides from the Hampstead Division

WHERE?   O2 Centre, Finchley Road, NW3 6LU – 2 mins from Finchley Road tube (Met and Jubilee lines) or 5 mins from Finchley Road and Frognal overground. C11, 82, 113, 13, 268 Bus routes. We will be just inside carpark entrance to the centre, near Sainsbury’s.

WHEN?      THIS SUNDAY 11th Dec 2011 from 11am to 5pm

WHY?          We are hoping to recruit more members to #SaveThe2ndWestHampsteadGuides from closure.

We will be making these fabulous edible campfires:

Made with digestive biscuit base, chocolate sticks, jelly sweets, buttercream icing and mini marshmallows.

I spent the day contacting the local Press and we have the Ham & High on board as well as the Camden New Journal. I also spent the afternoon cycling around the area to try and put up posters and I met some lovely people on my on the way. Everyone was behind us, which is reassuring to know!

I ran out of posters and leaflets so if I missed you I will hopefully be back today or tomorrow.

Special thanks to Hampstead School, WEL Books, Mill Lane Veterinary Surgery, Mill Lane Garden Centre, West Hampstead Library, Achillea Flowers and bake-a-boo for being so kind and putting up a poster in their window. If you’re a shop keeper from the local area and would like to put a poster up in yours, please comment on this post or send me a message here.

Also huge thanks to Jonathan AKA @WHampstead for retweeting about #SaveThe2ndWestHampstead Guides and mentioning us in his newsletter.

And a final mention for Sarah AKA @ghostontoast a Guiding member from East London who has recently moved to West Hampstead. I have roped her in to help out at the recruitment event on Sunday.

I love the West Hampstead Community!

Hopefully (if I can get a team of Guides together quickly enough) we will also be bag packing to raise a bit of money to pay off some of debt the 2nd West Hampstead Guides owe.

We currently owe a few hundred pounds at least but thankfully the Hampstead Division is subbing us until we can pay them back. If anyone is interested in making a donation. Please email girlguidinghampstead@gmail.com with the subject line “Donation for 2nd West Hampstead Guides.” We are a registered charity and our Leaders volunteer their time so all money raised from subs and otherwise, goes towards the running of the unit.

We are hoping to get a good response from this event and we will be inviting all the girls who show an interest to our Christmas Crafting Party for our last meeting of term. We will be making party snacks, eating mince pies and drinking hot Ribena! All whilst listening to Christmas songs and crafting to our hearts content, some amazing handmade cards, decorations and more! EXCITING stuff!
